(PCM) The always gorgeous Kirsten Dunst is gracing the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK, however as lovely as she appears on the cover, it is her comments made in the accompanying article that has people up in arms.
When talking about her opinion on traditional gender roles the 31-year old actress commented “I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued”. She went on to say ”We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking — it’s a valuable thing my mom created. Sometimes you need your knight in shining armor.”
To many pro-feminists those words were enough to spark an outrage, however Dunst then followed up with “You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work”. Now it is an all out war of words against Dunst on many pro-feminist online blogs such as Jezebel and Uproxx who have taken to slamming the actress’s viewpoints and opinions.
It seems that nowadays someone is always going to be offended no matter viewpoint or opinion that someone, especially a celebrity, happens to vocalize. While we may or may not agree with Dunst’s recent comments, everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion and we certainly need to practice more tolerance before skewering someone for a belief that may be different from our own.
